It is glamourous and interesting, created by a British architect, who I have studied and in theory open to visitors, but heaven knows how one is supposed to book The Presidents Palace as every attempt I have made to enrol to book has failed. Sometimes the links did not work, then the links said everything was booked and I tried checking as to why but was only re-told to book online. Then when finally some availability was showing, I followed all the instructions including putting in my passport details, got through to payments, only to have failed come back to me! Then last night I tried again only to find that all the places have been booked. I do not know how people are doing it as my booking constantly failed.
However, it might be a slight miracle if I get to India at all. The visa application process turned out to be a nightmare. True lots of things are really nightmares, but somehow following hte instructions but regularly getting nowhere had me totally pulling my hair out. Part of the problem turned out to be my computer, other problems related to identifying the correct organisation to book with, then it turned out that they had two different pages up at the same time, both of which gave differing information and then once I had filled out the correct forms, I struggled with resizing the photos and then could not pay! In the time it took to constantly revisit the material I could have paid for a holiday to Europe and back if I had been working. And almost every attempt to get support from the websites failed. However, the minute I paid for the visa, I was granted permission straight away so that was a relief, but only a chance remark by my son to print of the visa, made me realise that the email telling me to bring the email to India had actually failed to tell me to go back onto the site I had booked via and print off the actual visa. So if he had not said anything I would have turned up in Delhi with the wrong paperwork. It has been so confusing that yesterday because I had to go to Heathrow to see a friend off on holiday i actually went to the Air India offices to check I had all the correct paper work in place. Luckily that aspect does seem to be sorted, but my visit to the Presidents Palace seems doomed.
